Wrote this song while thinking about my upcoming birthday. There's a lot of songs out that are nostalgic about being seventeen and it's something I just can't understand. I feel lucky to still be here and to know so many amazing people so this song is for them and for anyone who's worried that their teenage years were supposed to be the best of their life - there's so much to look forward to.

When I was younger I didn't know who I was
Almost let people convince me I didn't belong.
Convinced myself it was my integrity
But really there was no other way I could be

Thinking about aging doesn't scare me
The older I get the more I understand myself
The more I find my community
And the things that make life worth living

I've never been one to plan ahead
Used to fill my whole body with dread

But for now I'm okay with where I'm heading

The biggest surprise is how much room I have for love
