I wrote this song after seeing a funny/heartbreaking window sign when out for a walk. Unlike the rainbows in most windows, it simply said 'I Miss You'. It really got me. I don't know who this sign was meant for; maybe the person is in a relationship with someone in the building across the road but can't see them because of lock down; maybe they're hoping their friend will walk past and see it when out for a walk; or maybe it's just a simple message of yearning to everyone walking past.

It made me think about how much I've missed meeting my friends but also how much I missed meeting new people. For a misanthrope, I really like meeting new people.
And so I wrote this song, drawing on not only the loneliness I've felt during this lockdown but the loneliness I've felt when I've been isolated by my mental health and the joy I've felt when I've then met wonderful new people after a long time in isolation. So this song is, in part, a lament of loneliness but is more a reminder of the good times to come. In the lyrics I tried to capture both the humour and the tragedy of the window sign I saw.

I've been working on a few different recordings but I'm releasing this now because of it's relevance to our current weird daily existence.

Not only are they a charity that has been on the front line globally trying to mitigate this crisis, but the Oxfam Music Shop on Byres Road is somewhere that I met a lot of wonderful new people before lock down started so it seems like a fitting cause.

This is probably one of my most delicate recordings, with very little post production.

P.S. I also saw a sign that said 'DON'T BE A FANNY STAY AWAY FAE GRANNY!' which I loved but probably wont be writing a song based on (...no promises though!)
